Summary

Mary's act of pouring out an entire flask of costly perfume on Jesus was not impulsive. It was the overflow of a heart that truly understood who He was. While others in the room celebrated what Jesus had done, and some criticized what Mary did, she gave everything without hesitation and without caring what anyone thought. Jesus called it beautiful and promised the world would remember it. That story raises an honest question for each of us. Have we settled for a cheaper perfume? Whether in our marriages, our handling of Scripture, our support of missions, or our personal priorities, genuine devotion to Jesus costs something. The challenge is to identify one area of life where we have quietly pulled back and make a deliberate, costly decision to pour out something valuable as an act of worship.
