Summary

Herod Agrippa was one of the most powerful rulers of his day, and he used that power to violently oppose the early church. He executed the apostle James and imprisoned Peter, motivated not by deep conviction but by a desire to please the crowd. The church responded the only way they knew how: they prayed earnestly. God answered in a dramatic way, freeing Peter from chains, guards, and an iron gate. Agrippa, who accepted praise that belonged only to God, met a sudden and humbling end. The chapter closes with a simple but powerful statement: the word of God increased and multiplied. No matter who holds power in this world, Jesus is King, and His mission cannot be stopped. That truth should shape how we pray, how we respond to fear, and where we place our hope.
