Summary

2 Peter 1-2. Maturity is observable. It can be detected and seen. Peter says Christians should, "make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love." Salvation isn’t something you just have internally, and it makes no difference in your life. Salvation changes your life externally too, and you become more and more like Jesus. People should be able to see your salvation as you become more and more like Christ. Peter says those who don't think maturing in these qualities is important are so nearsighted they're blind and forgot what Jesus did for them.
