Mark: Following the Son of God - Jesus Wants to Reach Us

Mark 6:45-56 Jesus has dismissed the crowd after feeding them and he has sent the disciples in a boat to cross the sea while he goes to pray. During the night, the disciples are stuck in a windstorm on the sea and Jesus comes to them, walking on water. Mark tells us that when Jesus got in the boat, the disciples were astonished, but he connects it to the feeding of the 5,000 and says they still didn't understand the lesson of the loaves. Then we find Jesus landing at the shore and healing many people. Jesus was trying to reach the disciples' hearts so they would see him for who he truly is and put their full and complete trust in him. And that's what he's trying to do for us, to reach into our hearts and lives so we truly believe in who he is.

Mark: Following the Son of God - Compassion Never Clocks Out

Mark 6:30-44 Jesus was taking the apostles across the sea to a quiet place for rest only to find a large crowd waiting for him on the shore. Instead of being irritated with them, he had compassion on them and taught them. Later he fed them using what little food they had. When the apostles were trying to calculate how to feed the people, Jesus taught them to deepen their faith in him. You never know what God will do with your little bread and fish, you just be full of compassion and faith in Jesus.

Mark: Following the Son of God - Jesus Cares about our Problems

Mark 5:21-43 A synagogue ruler puts his faith in Jesus and rushes to beg him to come heal his dying twelve-year-old daughter and on the way a woman who's been sick for twelve years trusts if she can just touch Jesus she'll be healed. Jesus isn't bothered by their interruptions and he cares about their problems. Jesus cares about our problems, too. And he calls us to put our faith in him no matter what happens in life.

Mark: Following the Son of God - No Storm is a Match for Jesus

Mark 4:35-41 Jesus was exhausted from all his work and wanted to go across the sea to the other side and get some rest on the short trip. While he slept, a giant windstorm stirred up and threatened their lives. The disciples were terrified, woke Jesus up and asked him if he even cared about what was going on. Then, Jesus taught a powerful lesson on trusting in him through our storms.

Mark: Following the Son of God - The Time is Always Right to Do what is Right

Mark 2:23-3:6 Jesus is challenged by the Pharisees about the Sabbath and Jesus show them they don't even understand the Sabbath because they had made it about following all their rules instead of a time of rest, refreshment and relationship. Jesus shows us that it is always right to do right and always good to do good when he heals a man on the Sabbath, which infuriates the Pharisees.

Mark: Following the Son of God - We Need Forgiveness More than Healing

Mark 2:1-12 When four friends cut a hole in a roof to lower their paralyzed friend down to Jesus to be healed everyone was amazed! But in this moment, Jesus taught everyone a powerful lesson about his identity. He is the Son of God, the Son of Man and the one God sent to save us from our sins. Jesus shows us that our eternal position is more important that our physical condition.
